About this job

The purpose of our Parking Services department is to provide a safe, fair, consistent and transparent service which meets the needs of our residents, businesses and visitors inline with our parking strategy.

This role will play a key part within the parking design team which focuses on the development, design, consultation and delivery of complex parking projects including the delivery of an ambitious controlled parking zone programme which aims to reduce parking stress, provide safer and improved parking for road users, reduce congestion and improve air quality.

The specific responsibilities of the post relate to: The design and implementation of complex parking schemes and technical parking initiatives following consultation with internal and external stakeholders

To carryout maintenance of parking infrastructure including signs, road marking and post

To inspect, erect and maintain parking suspensions across the borough

Knowledge of Parking Legislation

Knowledge of Traffic Management Act 2004

Knowledge of Highways Act 1980

Knowledge of Traffic Signs General Directions (TSRGD)

Knowledge of Relevant Traffic Signs Manuals

About you

If you like being out and about in the community and making a difference to peoples daily lives, this could be the role for you.

You will spend a good deal of time onsite, being a part of the implementation of new parking controls and managing the signage, road markings, posts and other restrictions within the infrastructure to ensure schemes are delivered on time, within budget and are consistent with the Councils parking strategy.
