Job Title: Parking Services Business Support Administrator

Permanent: 37 hours per week

Salary – Band 5 One Team £29,540 - £31,537 per annum

Closing Date: Sunday 19th October

Brentwood Borough Council and Rochford District Council are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Parking Services Administrator to support the delivery of high-quality parking services across both authorities.

This varied role involves providing essential administrative and business support, including processing penalty charge notices, managing parking permit applications, maintaining stock inventories, and updating website content. You’ll also assist with the administration of the Shop Mobility Scheme and monitor parking systems at Coptfold Road Car Park, liaising with contractors to ensure smooth operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the wider objectives of the Parking Services team and the Asset & Investment Directorate. You’ll be involved in preparing reports, handling Freedom of Information requests, raising purchase orders, and supporting benchmarking activities. Flexibility is essential, as the role may require travel between Brentwood and Rochford, and occasional support for other service areas.

This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working collaboratively, and is committed to delivering excellent public service.

About the candidate:

The ideal candidate will be highly organised, detail-focused, and confident working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment. You’ll have strong administrative skills and be comfortable using digital systems to manage tasks such as permit processing, penalty charge notice administration, and financial reconciliation. A proactive approach to problem-solving, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to delivering excellent service are essential. Experience in local government, parking services, or a similar regulatory or operational environment would be an advantage, but not essential.

We’re looking for someone who is a strong communicator, both written and verbal, and who can work effectively with internal teams, contractors, and members of the public. You’ll be adaptable and willing to support a wide range of tasks, from preparing reports and updating web content to attending meetings and assisting with emergency planning. A flexible attitude is key, as the role may involve occasional travel between Brentwood and Rochford. If you’re someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys variety, and is committed to public service, we’d love to hear from you.

Benefits of working here:

You will have the opportunity to work across both Council’s which are located in the south of Essex and approximately 20 miles apart.

The two areas present a blend of characteristics. Brentwood is well-known for its green space and woodlands, even though it’s located within easy commuting distance of London – and the new Elizabeth Line has made this connection even better, with faster and more frequent trains. Rochford is a mix of urban and rural and London Southend Airport sits within its boundaries.

We are currently operating a hybrid model of working, which enables our employees to work smarter, focusing on the importance of physical connections to meet the needs of those we provide services for, whilst balancing that with the ability to work remotely. Our employees are provided with the resources to be able to work in this way effectively and are provided with a laptop to do so.

In addition to this, we offer many excellent employee benefits which include, pension scheme, generous annual leave entitlement, health and wellbeing opportunities, employee assistance programme, a benefits platform offering discounts across a range of retailers.
