Job summary

Sitting in the Central Performance & Insights team, you will support data functions across the UK Health Security Agency.
You will support the team with the delivery of analytical support for a variety of functions including:
- Supporting packages for Groups to facilitate development of KPIs in their areas of expertise
- Building and owning the metadata collected from the Groups to produce consistent reporting of KPIs
- Contributing to the development of processes for the capture and storage of performance data
- Maintaining robust management of datasets
Our ideal candidate will have experience of applying a range of analytical techniques.
Job description
Specific data management responsibilities include:
- Identifying, collecting, and migrating data to and from a range of systems
- Managing, cleaning and quality assuring data to ensure it is “analysis” ready
- Manipulating and linking different data sets as required
- Assisting with data quality checking and cleaning
- Applying tools and techniques for data analysis, data visualisation
- Presenting data and conclusions logically and concisely in the most appropriate format
- Summarising and presenting the results of data analysis to a range of customers, making recommendations
- Interpreting and applying relevant data information security standards, policies, and procedures to data

Person specification
The post holder will be responsible for:
- Delivering a specified and agreed suite of support packages for the collection of KPIs
- Producing ad-hoc MI reports and data/trend analysis to meet internal and external reporting requirements to agreed time and quality deadlines
- Contributing to developing/increasing the effective and innovative use of data to provide insight, measurement and evaluation that support the delivery of our work whilst demonstrating awareness of the links and interactions between all components and building shared understanding and capability to use data effectively
- Contributing to the development of systems to gather data, insight, and evidence for reporting on dashboards, scorecards, and metrics, as required, and presenting this often-complex data and analysis in a professional and engaging format to drive effective decision making.
- Managing, maintaining, and using spreadsheets, queries and visualisations to ensure data is available, accessible and supports decision making
- Maintaining customer relationships, seeking feedback, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the specification, design, and presentation of MI reports to meet business need

- Excellent knowledge and skills in Microsoft Excel and other data management techniques
- Proficiency in Power BI or similar software, including creating interactive reports, visualisations and using DAX

- Experience in managing and maintaining structured data sets, including effective file organization, version control, and documentation to support data integrity and accessibility
- The ability to work collaboratively and flexibly to ensure key activity is delivered in a timely, effective manner, often to tight deadlines
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute to continuous improvement in data processes and reporting

Eligibility Criteria

This role is being offered as remote working.
Future location

Salary Information
Please note: If you are successful at interview, and are moving from another government department, NHS, or Local Authority, the relevant starting salary principles for level transfers or promotions will apply. Otherwise, roles are offered at the pay scale minimum for the grade, but in exceptional circumstances there may be flexibility if you are able to demonstrate you are already in receipt of an existing, higher salary. Pay increases are through the relevant annual pay award for the role and terms.
