Job summary

Fraud Defence supports the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in identifying, preventing and responding to fraud risks across the Department and the organisations it works with. Within this, the Fraud Data Analytics team provides the management information (MI) and analytical insight required to identify patterns of fraudulent activity, inform decision-making, and develop reporting products for stakeholders across MOD.

This role is suited to an experienced analyst who is comfortable working with complex information, managing competing priorities and delivering clear, actionable insight. You will need to be able to work independently, balance longer-term analytical development with shorter-term reporting and ad-hoc requests, and remain organised and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

As a Performance Analyst, you will develop and maintain Fraud Defence’s performance measures, analyse fraud-related trends, and produce high-quality reporting products to various stakeholders to support governance and operational delivery. Working closely with colleagues across Fraud Defence and the wider department, you will help improve the quality of Fraud Defence’s MI reporting and present analysis clearly to senior leaders and non-technical stakeholders. The role requires strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate insights to drive effective operational decisions.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

  • Working collaboratively with Operations, Commercial, Risk, Compliance and Investigations colleagues to improve data quality, reporting and insight.
  • Supporting fraud loss exercises and fraud risk assessments to help MOD better understand the scale and impact of fraud risk.
  • Representing the Fraud Defence at meetings with external and internal stakeholders, present analytical insights, and contribute to the wider economic crime landscape.
  • A team approach to completing work, sharing demand and developing shared skill sets, contributing to a thriving analytical community and supporting Defence’s strategic goals.
  • Being proactive in defining and building a portfolio of continuous professional development.
  • Supporting the development of colleagues to reach their full potential and role model a culture which reflects the Defence values.
