Self-Employed Personal Carer Opportunities (Micro Providers)
Hours: Flexible and varied
Location: Across Stoke-on-Trent
We’re looking for self-employed people to support people in their day-to-day lives. You’ll be working directly with individuals who want to stay as independent as possible and are choosing to manage their own care through either self-funding or via direct payments.
As a self-employed Micro Provider, you will work with a variety of different clients. The work is rewarding, flexible, and makes a real difference to someone’s quality of life. Most support takes place in the person’s home or out in the community.
What You Might Be Doing:
- Helping plan and take part in social or physical activities
- Accompanying someone to appointments
- Supporting them to get to work, college, or other commitments
- Helping with personal care (not required in all cases)
- Doing practical tasks like shopping, cleaning, or cooking
- Keeping an eye on their wellbeing and supporting with medication
- Someone who can use their initiative and work independently
- Good communication and listening skills
- Flexibility and good time-management
- A friendly, patient, and approachable manner
- Someone reliable, polite, and comfortable working one-to-one
- Understanding of different care and support needs
- Experience is helpful but not essential — it could come from previous jobs, volunteering, family experience, training, or placements. It is more important that you know what good care and support looks like.

- An enhanced DBS check and other essential requirements such as insurance and relevant training is required. Financial support for set- up costs may be available to some individuals.
- Practical, free support is available to meet relevant training such as safeguarding.
