Job summary

We are currently recruiting for a Personal Assistant to the Sector Director to work on a hybrid basis, two to three days from our HQ in Coventry and the remainder working remotely from home, Monday to Friday. We may also consider candidates who prefer to be based at our York office.

This is a pivotal role providing comprehensive, professional support to the Sector Director and playing a critical part as a trusted partner. The role enables the director to operate effectively, focus on strategic priorities and engage confidently with key internal and external stakeholders.

Proven experience of minute‑taking is essential, alongside the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships, exercise sound judgement and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Established in 2008, AHDB is the independent, impartial public body that unlocks success in British agriculture. Funded by a levy from over 100,000 British farmers, growers and processors in the beef, lamb, pork, dairy and cereals sectors, we support and champion farmers and processors, often where no one else can or will.

Job description

  • Provide comprehensive, professional executive support to the Sector Director, including diary and email management and travel and accommodation arrangements
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder meetings, including agenda preparation, coordination of papers and tracking actions

  • Support planning, monitoring and reporting of delivery against the Sector Plan, analysing key engagement activity and metrics

  • Support budget monitoring, identifying and highlighting potential overspend
  • Champion use of the customer database (Microsoft Dynamics), ensuring contacts, permissions and records are accurate and up to date

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems and value for money

Person specification

  • Confident interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships
  • Proactive, hands‑on and solutions‑focused, comfortable working independently in a fast‑paced environment, with an interest in the agriculture sector
