About the Post:
Help us support Barnsley’s children, young people and families to get the right help at the right time.
About the Post
There is so much happening across Barnsley, and this is an excellent opportunity to join our 0–19 Public Health Nursing Service. Our teams work with babies, children, young people and families, helping them access the right support at the right time. As a 0–19 PHNS Administrator, you will be an important first point of contact for families, professionals and partner organisations, providing a welcoming, confidential and efficient service that helps our frontline teams deliver the Healthy Child Programme and improve outcomes across the borough.
About the Role
This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of a busy public health nursing service. You will respond to enquiries by telephone, email and digital channels, including enquiries that may be sensitive or distressing, and make sure each person receives a professional response and is directed to the appropriate colleague or service. You will provide a high standard of customer care while handling personal and confidential information safely and in line with data protection and information governance requirements.
Your day-to-day work will include recording and checking information accurately, arranging appointments, managing calendars and waiting lists, transferring children’s health records, supporting feedback and audits, and preparing routine information and reports. You will use Microsoft Office, electronic health records and other digital platforms, and you will work with colleagues to improve administrative processes and develop new ways of working. Priorities can change quickly, so you will need to stay organised, respond positively to interruptions and balance competing demands.
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable and approachable, with experience of working in an administrative or clerical role and supporting members of the public. You will communicate clearly and sensitively with families, colleagues and partner organisations, including when information is difficult or emotive. You will understand the importance of confidentiality, remain calm under pressure and provide a professional service at all times.
You will be confident using digital systems and Microsoft Office applications, with strong attention to detail and the ability to enter and manage information accurately. Experience of electronic clinical record systems is desirable, but what matters most is your willingness to learn, develop your knowledge of the Healthy Child Programme and contribute ideas that help the service work effectively.
You will be able to work both independently and as part of a supportive team, prioritise your workload and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and excellent customer service. If you want a role where your organisation, communication and digital skills can make a meaningful difference to children, young people and families across Barnsley, we would welcome your application.
