The Adults with Learning Disabilities Service is offering a unique and exciting opportunity for an innovative and motivated individual who is looking for a change in focus or to develop their management and leadership skills.

  • Practice Manager, grade 11 post
  • Adults with Learning Disabilities Service – Chester/Ellesmere Port team
  • Full time 37 hours per week
  • Permanent contract

The Adults with Learning Disabilities team is an extremely supportive team environment with a strong culture of continuing professional development, strengths based and person-centred practice. Supporting adults with learning disabilities can be rewarding; the team works with a high number of people with varied needs ranging from complex health to forensic needs, who require skilled interventions. The team is extremely experienced, highly motivated and a hardworking group of skilled professionals, many of whom are longstanding in the service. The post involves close working with CW&C partners as well as the NHS and external partner agencies.

The post-holder will be a registered social worker currently working for CW&C Adult Social Care. We are seeking someone with experience in:

  • Supporting and developing staff
  • Working with providers of services
  • Working under the MCA, MHA and Care Act
  • Assessing, reviewing and planning for complex care needs while balancing rights and risks

The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the existing Practice Managers in the service. Some of the key roles include the following:

  • To line manage and have supervisory responsibility for the team
  • Oversee the workflow into the team, manage the allocation of work and management of caseloads
  • Manage the performance of the team in relation to agreed targets and objectives
  • Support the development of creative practice, research in practice and service innovation
  • Provide direct support to team members with complex cases and facilitation of associated meetings such as multi-disciplinary meetings, best interest meetings and safeguarding for example.
