Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in Lewisham’s Procurement team:

As a Procurement and Contracts Officer, you will be responsible for the management of some of the elements of the Council’s e-procurement processes and practices. To place contract notices as required in liaison with the client directorates. Implement and operate computer based procurement and contract management systems effectively. Ensure that data available to the team and public is of a high standard and accessible via the Council’s on line portal, SharePoint, internet and intranet sites amongst other duties.

What’s the role?

The role is to support the Council’s procurement and contract management functions by accurately maintaining data in e-procurement systems, producing reports, and ensuring information is accessible and up to date across online platforms. It involves assisting senior officers with benchmarking and research, managing contract notices, and providing guidance and templates to stakeholders. The position also requires effective communication with directorates, suppliers, and contractors, maintaining accurate records, supporting training delivery, and performing administrative tasks to ensure compliance with policies. Additionally, the role includes monitoring new procurement initiatives, conducting spend analysis, and compiling management reports to support informed decision-making.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual with good problem-solving and organisational skills. You should have experience in using Microsoft Packages and with good analytical ability with excellent written communications skills.
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills are essential, as you will work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and provide tailored, effective solutions.
You should also have strong time management abilities, capable of prioritising multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will be have previous experience of working in procurement.

Location

The job is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford SE6 4RU, but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.

Salary

£32,442 - £33,384 per annum (SC4)

N.B: All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
