What will you be doing?

Are you interested in building relationships across complex public services?

Would you enjoy exploring new opportunities to collaborate, solving emerging problems, and supporting the team define strategic direction across an entire county?

Are you ready to help strategic stakeholders work together to deliver real, measurable change?

If the answer is ‘yes’ this role could be for you!

We are looking to recruit a key member of staff to support us in our work supporting and strengthening collaboration across Kent & Medway. If you have an interest in policy and partnership development, enjoy meeting and collaborating with colleagues from across Kent’s public sector partners and beyond, and excel working in a complex and fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.

About the team:

The Strategic Partnerships Team sits within Kent County Council’s Strategy, Policy, Relationships & Corporate Assurance division.

We bring together the organisations that shape life across the county. Working with Kent County Council, Medway Council, District and Borough Councils, Police, Fire, Health, Armed Forces, Probation, Jobcentre Plus, Kent Association of Local Councils and national government bodies, we make collaboration happen where it matters most and lead on cross-cutting external strategy and policy work.

We support and advise key countywide leadership groups, including Kent Council Leaders, Joint Kent Chief Executives, and the Kent & Medway Civilian Military Partnership Board, ensuring strong connections, clear insight and a shared strategic direction.

Our work also looks ahead: we spot opportunities for partners to work better together, tackle emerging challenges early, and track national policy developments so Kent is ready for what’s next.

About the role:

As a Programme Support Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the work that brings Kent’s key public sector partners together. You’ll provide high‑quality coordination and insight across a wide range of activities, from organising important meetings, boards, events and conferences, tracking actions, preparing reports and presentations, and carrying out research that shapes decision‑making.

You’ll be the team’s first point of contact, helping manage a busy and dynamic workload while supporting the delivery of critical partnership workstreams. You’ll also contribute to emerging work on local government reorganisation — offering a rare opportunity to be part of historic change that will influence how services are delivered for years to come.

This is an exciting time to join a fast‑paced, outward‑facing team at the heart of Kent’s strategic landscape, where your work will help strengthen collaboration and drive meaningful impact across the county.
