Devon County Council is seeking to appoint an Electric Vehicle (EV) Project Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small team delivering the Council’s rollout of EV charging infrastructure, including the Devon & Torbay Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) project.

Devon County Council (DCC) declared a climate emergency and helped to publish the Devon Carbon Plan which sets out what needs to be done to meet the climate emergency challenge. The decarbonisation of transport in Devon is a crucial part of this response, as the sector represents a large proportion of Devon’s emissions. Electric Vehicles (EVs) play a significant role in the ability to meet emissions targets, and a key barrier to the uptake of EVs is availability of suitable charging infrastructure. In 2023 DCC consulted upon an Electric Vehicle Charging Strategy, which aims to help all residents and visitors overcome barriers to EV adoption and increase access to suitable infrastructure.

DCC were allocated £7m of funding from central government’s Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Fund, which has been used to leverage significant private sector match funding. DCC were one of the first authorities in the country to award LEVI contracts and mobilisation of suppliers is currently underway. The project will deliver a step change in the deployment of charging infrastructure across Devon and Torbay, working collaboratively with suppliers, the Devon district authorities and other local authorities. The successful applicant will also be instrumental in shaping new EV charging projects across the county.

Applicants must have a proven track record of managing similar projects, but experience of Electric Vehicle Infrastructure is not essential.
