We have an excellent opportunity available for a Public Health Intelligence Manager, to join our proactive Public Health Team at Wokingham Borough Council, on a full-time and permanent basis.
As a senior member of the public health team, you will lead on a varied and exciting programme of work aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of residents. The key purpose of the role is to lead on the development and improvement of public health intelligence work.
You will manage complex programmes of work that generate insight and knowledge to inform evidence-based decision making across health and care systems; this will underpin our work to improve public health outcomes and reduce inequalities in accordance with the council’s ambition of becoming a ‘Marmot Borough’.

Key responsibilities:
- To lead and manage complex programmes of work that generate insight and knowledge, through the analysis and interpretation of data and intelligence, to inform evidence-based decision making across health and care systems.
- To provide strategic and technical expertise to colleagues across the council, and to partners, on a wide range of public health intelligence topics.
- To be accountable for the appropriate access, storage and use of large public health datasets, ensuring that information governance and data access agreements are in place and adhered to.
- To support the maintenance of the Berkshire Observatory working with colleagues across Berkshire.
Candidate requirements:
- Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills, ideally in public health, epidemiology, data analysis, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or other evidence of advanced knowledge relating to public health, data analysis or health related field e.g. UKPHR Registration
- Demonstrates specialist expertise in data management, quality, security, and information governance within local government and health settings, with a proven track record in a senior data or intelligence role.
- Competent in use of IT and of data and statistical packages eg. Miquest, SQL, SPSS, R, or others, relevant to the analysis of large health data.
- Excellent communication and partnership-building skills.

Salary range
- £57,179 - £62,667 per year
