Public Health Project Officer – (Stop Smoking service and Health Care Public Health)
Ealing is a highly diverse and vibrant borough in the west of London. Home to around 370,000 people, it is the third largest borough by population in London and is an exciting, diverse and challenging place to live and work.
We are looking for a dynamic person who will support the development and delivery of effective strategic approaches to expand tobacco control initiatives and deliver community engagement to encourage more people to stop smoking.
The post-holder will work with the Public Health Principal to plan, develop, and deliver stop-smoking and tobacco control programmes, services, and projects in partnership with the local stop-smoking service and a range of partners both within the Council and across the community, using your strong skills in project management, community engagement, and collaborative working.
The public health team has a strong learning ethos and provides a very supportive environment. There has never been a better time to join the team at Ealing.
- The Council Plan has a strong focus on tackling inequalities, supporting healthy lives and engaging with our communities
- The Health & Wellbeing Strategy 2023-28 has a clear focus on reducing inequalities and improving the building blocks of health
- Ealing Council has established a Health Determinants Research Collaboration, working in partnership with our communities and academic partners as part of a five-year programme funded by NIHR
- There are strong relationships across the Council, especially following extensive joint work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic
- There are exciting opportunities within the Borough-Based Partnership, with very positive relationships and structures for joint working
By joining Ealing, you will be part of a respected, innovative and diverse London borough with a strong reputation for its commitment to health and wellbeing. Public Health sits at the forefront of our early intervention and prevention work and our work is cross-cutting across other council departments and local strategic partners to affect system change.
The location for the role is Perceval House in central Ealing. Currently, the majority of staff are hybrid working, with office working strongly encouraged for at least 2 days a week (this may change depending on the needs of the department).
This role is permanent and full-time post, which does require occasional weekend and after hours working, so the post holder will need to be flexible around their working hours and an ability to travel across the council with education resources, displays etc.
Flexible working is considered for all roles in the Public Health team.
