    About the Role

This is a senior role within Lambeth Public Health, leading and supporting a range of health protection work programmes and helping to ensure delivery of the Council’s statutory public health responsibilities. The portfolio includes communicable disease prevention and control, immunisation and screening, infection prevention and control, environmental hazards, emergency preparedness and wider health protection assurance work.

The post holder will work closely with partners including UK Health Security Agency, NHS organisations, Lambeth Together and community organisations, providing leadership, coordination and assurance across the local health protection system. Strong public health, analytical, programme management and partnership working skills are essential, alongside the ability to work proactively and effectively within a fast-paced local authority environment.

Lambeth was significantly affected during the coronavirus pandemic, which highlighted the importance of strong local health protection arrangements and trusted relationships with communities and partners. The post holder will play an important role in strengthening prevention, preparedness and response arrangements locally, including supporting work to address inequalities in access, uptake and outcomes across health protection programmes and services.

The role offers flexible working arrangements and a supportive learning environment with opportunities for professional development and progression across grades, depending on experience and demonstration of the required competencies. Lambeth Council is based in Brixton and there is an expectation that you will work in the borough at least a couple of days a week to collaborate with colleagues and partners.
