
Public Protection Officer
Job Description
OverviewThe London Borough of Harrow is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated team player to join its Public Protection and Enforcement service. As part of the Priority Enforcement Team, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean and safe environment across the borough. Your responsibilities will include inspecting fly-tipping sites, addressing nuisance vehicles and waste-related issues, and investigating environmental crimes. This role involves collecting evidence, conducting investigations into reported offences, and taking appropriate enforcement actions. Please note that the position requires flexibility, with some early morning starts from 6am and occasional evening work. We are seeking a motivated individual with a keen eye for detail and a passion for effective communication. The ideal candidate will be confident engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and committed to upholding high standards in public service.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Have a good knowledge of the range of legislation involved in tackling envirocrime.
- Full current driving licence
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a demanding and pressurised environment independently and as a team.
- High standard of written and verbal presentation and communication skills
- Competent in the use of standard computer systems
- Aptitude for the technical and legal aspects of the discipline
- Inclusive team worker who can foster partnerships work Collaboratory across teams to achieve desired outcomes.
- Ability to work outside normal working hours as may be necessary
- Aa clear understanding of the diverse nature of Harrow’s communities and the implications for Public Protection and Enforcement Service and the impact on Harrow residents and service users

Salary range
- £35,682 - £40,416 per year
