Job summary

The Strategic Systems Delivery Team is looking for scientists and engineers who can anticipate the next generation of strike & defensive missile systems in order to ensure the long-term safety and defence of the UK. The Strategic Systems Ballistic Missile Defence Sensing Team aim to be the recognised experts for detailed assessment of BMD radar.

You will provide expert advice on all aspects of ballistic missile defence (BMD) from technology through to emerging policy.

Job description

In this role you will provide expert, impartial advice and technical assurance to project teams and customers to allow informed decisions to be made. You will lead and contribute to the development of software for conducting system analysis as well as developing radars and the associated technology for future use. You will use real world data collected from assets uniquely available within the MOD.

Person specification

We are looking for an individual with a Degree based in Physics, Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics or accreditation to an equivalent standard. You will have the ability to communicate complex ideas with the ability to read write software from Python, C++ or Matlab. You will be able to manage deadlines and work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.

Selection process details

Sifting will take place week commencing 2nd November with interviews to held face to face at Dstl Portsdown West from 16th November.

Your interview will consist of behavioural and technical competency-based questions. You will also be required to deliver a 10-15-minute presentation. Further details for the presentation will be provided to candidates invited to interview.
