We are recruiting Recovery Officers at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 hours (7.24 Monday – Friday)
Contract Type: X1 – Full Time, Permanent / X1 – Full Time, Fixed Term for 18 months
Location: Ty Penallta

The postholder will assist Senior Officers in executing Council Tax recovery and enforcement processes to maximise Council Tax collection.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with the drive and ambition to succeed in a challenging role. You must be able to build and maintain working relationships with internal Council departments and external agencies and support the Recovery Team Leader in reaching set collection targets.

Main duties will include dealing with routine correspondence, telephone calls and face-to-face enquiries resulting from recovery and enforcement action. You will deal with enquiries from, and making payment arrangements with, taxpayers. When required, you will attend magistrates’ court to assist senior staff in dealing with customers at court.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • A Relevant Level 2 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales. For example, Customer Service, Business Administration.
  • Detailed knowledge of Council Tax recovery and enforcement regulations.
  • Experience of dealing with members of the public / customers and external organisations.
