Recruitment and Retention Co-ordinator
Permanent
Full Time 37 hours per week
Are you passionate about people, great service and making a real difference? We’re looking for an enthusiastic Recruitment and Retention Coordinator to join our friendly Recruitment and Retention Team, supporting Children’s and Adults Social Care with high-quality advice, practical solutions and a brilliant candidate and hiring manager experience. Based at County Hall in Exeter, this role offers hybrid working with weekly office attendance.
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are quite the same. You’ll be helping to keep recruitment moving, building positive relationships with candidates and hiring managers, and contributing to the work that supports vital services across Devon. To thrive, you’ll bring excellent communication skills, confidence in a customer-facing environment, strong organisation skills and the ability to manage priorities effectively. Previous recruitment or HR experience would be helpful, but it’s not essential — we’re just as interested in your enthusiasm, attention to detail and willingness to learn.
You’ll be joining a supportive team that works together to deliver a great recruitment service for Devon County Council and our external customers. It’s a brilliant opportunity to get involved in varied work, learn from experienced colleagues and play a part in helping people find the right roles across our services.
What you’ll be doing…
In this role, you’ll be right at the heart of the recruitment journey — keeping things moving, solving problems, supporting hiring managers and helping candidates feel informed and welcomed from the start.
- Being a friendly and helpful point of contact for hiring managers, offering clear recruitment advice and support with HR system queries.
- Helping bring roles to life by preparing, publishing and co-ordinating adverts across Social Care.
- Supporting successful candidates through the onboarding process, helping make their journey into Devon County Council as smooth and positive as possible.
- Getting involved in recruitment campaigns and working with hiring managers to help attract and appoint great people into vital roles.
In this role, you’ll be an integral part of the Recruitment & Retention team, helping Devon County Council recruit & retain a strong and stable workforce. You will be contributing to creating a positive and welcoming experience for both candidates and hiring managers, while helping to build a strong, people-focused culture across the organisation.
Above all, you will be supported by a team and colleagues with a wealth of knowledge and experience to help, support and challenge you to be your best.

At Devon County Council, we’re proud to offer a supportive working environment alongside a range of benefits to help you feel valued, supported and able to do your best work, including:
