About the role

We are now seeking an experienced and motivated Recruitment Manager to lead our recruitment function and ensure the timely and effective attraction, selection, and onboarding of high-quality staff across all areas of the college. This is a pivotal role where you will manage a team of HR Administrators and Coordinators while acting as the key liaison with Payroll to ensure a smooth transition for new starters from recruitment through to employment.

As Recruitment Manager, you will oversee the end-to-end recruitment process, from advising managers on job descriptions and adverts through to interviews, offers, pre-employment checks, and onboarding. You will ensure all activity reflects best practice in safer recruitment, complies with legislation, and supports our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion. You will also be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with external partners such as recruitment agencies, advertising platforms, and sector networks, ensuring cost-effective use of agency staff and developing sustainable talent pipelines.

The role also involves developing and delivering the college’s recruitment strategy in line with workforce planning and budget requirements. You will monitor recruitment trends, provide regular reports to senior management, and continuously improve systems, processes, and candidate experience. In addition, you will provide expert training and guidance to managers on recruitment best practice and the effective use of recruitment systems. Representing the college externally at careers fairs and sector events will also form part of your role, helping to position United Colleges Group as an employer of choice.

We are looking for someone with substantial experience in recruitment and resourcing, You will be highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and confident in working with recruitment agencies, monitoring spend, and delivering value for money. Strong IT skills, including the use of HR systems such as iTrent, are essential, as is the ability to handle confidential data responsibly. Most importantly, you will bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage colleagues at all levels and deliver a positive, professional HR service.
