Do you love working outdoors? Are you a hard-working team player? Then we want to hear from you. Brentwood Borough Council delivers an “in-house” residential and commercial refuse and recycling collection service across the Borough and are currently looking to recruit a number of Driver/Loaders to join the team.

As a qualified driver you will possess the minimum requirement of a clean category C LGV licence as well as an up-to-date CPC.

The successful applicants will lead a team of up to three Refuse Loaders to deliver a safe, efficient, and effective waste and recycling collection service to residential and commercial premises in Brentwood.

You will be responsible for your allocated waste collection vehicle, undertaking daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects to the responsible person, as well as ensuring all health and safety practices are adhered too.

You will need to be a team player with outstanding behaviours, flexible attitude, and approach to ensure the service meets all its objectives.

This role involves working outside in all weathers and you will need a good level of fitness and endurance to ensure the job gets done. This will include loading the vehicle which can be physically demanding.

You will be expected to work most Bank Holidays and the occasional catch-up Saturdays to ensure the needs of the service are met. These will be paid at an enhanced rate.

Full details of the role’s responsibilities and requirements can be found in the job Description and Person Specification.

Brentwood Borough Council encourages and supports their employees to have a healthy work life balance by supporting their professional development as well as offering 185 hours annual leave, plus bank holidays increasing to 207 hours, plus bank holidays following five or more years with us of continuous Local Government Service. We have a fantastic employee assistance programme with a range of benefits and discounts. You will also be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme where the Council contributes 19.9% of your pensionable salary.
