Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday
Salary: £27,274 - £29,071
About the Role
This varied and rewarding role provides administrative and customer service support across all areas of the service, including births, deaths, marriages, civil partnerships and citizenship ceremonies. You will often be the first point of contact for customers, providing advice, guidance and administrative support while ensuring records and documentation are maintained accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support across all Registration Service functions.
- Respond to customer enquiries in person, by telephone and through electronic communication channels.
- Book appointments and manage customer enquiries using the service's booking and administration systems.
- Prepare documentation and records relating to births, deaths, marriages, civil partnerships and citizenship ceremonies.
- Support the organisation and delivery of marriage and citizenship ceremonies.
- Process payments and maintain accurate financial records in line with council procedures.
- Maintain electronic and paper-based records in accordance with statutory requirements and local procedures.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Assist customers with completing forms and providing supporting documentation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the service.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Demonstrates empathy, patience and professionalism, particularly when dealing with customers in sensitive circumstances.
- Has strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Is confident using Microsoft Office applications and other IT systems.
- Can manage competing priorities and work accurately under pressure.
- Works effectively as part of a team and is able to use their own initiative.
- Is flexible and willing to work alternate Saturdays.
- Is able to travel to various locations across Dudley Borough as required.
- Has experience in an administrative and/or customer-facing role. Experience within local government or a statutory service environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
Work Locations
The successful candidate will be required to work across a range of locations within Dudley Borough, including:
- Dudley Register Office, Priory Hall, Dudley
- Stourbridge Registration Office, Thomas Robinson Building, Stourbridge
- Coseley and Stourbridge Family Hubs
- Other Dudley Council offices and community venues as required
- Locations used for citizenship ceremonies and other registration-related events

Working Pattern
37 hours per week, including alternate Saturdays.
