Immigration Enforcement is responsible for enforcing the government’s immigration laws, tackling illegal migration, removing foreign national offenders and immigration offenders from the UK. The Reporting and Offender Management (ROM) and Operational Business Support teams manage the reporting population and provide professional operational and administrative support to the management team and Immigration Officers within Immigration Enforcement.

Job description

You will have the opportunity to develop your skills through a varied and engaging range of responsibilities. The role involves building and maintaining strong, effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including the police, social services, probation, internal partners, and customers. This requires excellent people and customer service skills, alongside the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

We are seeking someone who can work to deadlines, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and has excellent organisational skills, combined with a willingness to learn. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to further develop a broad range of people and engagement skills within a high-performing team, contributing to a positive working environment and supporting staff and senior managers to deliver operational objectives.

You will work closely with ROM, Operational, and Business Support functions across multiple locations within ICE North and will be expected to work flexibly across offices within ICE and ROM Scotland.

You will be involved in the oversight and management of the Reporting Centre, recruitment and consolidation of the operational business support team, and ensuring effective support to Immigration Officers in their day-to-day work. You will also provide the management team with timely and accurate performance information and play a key role in driving performance management, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across all areas.

Travel

Regular travel to ICE & ROM Scotland locations will be expected. Travel expenses will be paid in line with Home Office policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the ROM, Recruiting, leading and line managing a multi‑level team, coordinating detention activity for reporting cases, and managing the wider reporting population.
  • Producing weekly narratives of operational activity and providing weekly and monthly performance statistics to support operational planning, drive performance, and identify areas for improvement
  • Acting as People Lead, in collaboration with existing Immigration Inspectors.
  • Leading business continuity planning, including the annual completion of the Business Continuity Plan, subject to senior management approval.
  • Delivering First Line Assurance for the ICE / ROM Scotland team, requiring strong analytical and organisational skills.
  • Tasking operational activity by working closely with Chief Immigration Officers and Higher Executive Officers to progress cases towards removal.
  • Acting as Information Asset Owner, ensuring data is safeguarded to maintain public confidence in the organisation.

Working Pattern

Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis. However, compressed hours is available.

Training

You will receive full training and support to do the job. Training takes place initially in the classroom and then continues on the job with a mentor who supports you until you are fully confident in the role. Even then you are never alone; you work as part of a team where there is always someone around for advice and support. Further information on what the training involves can be found on our website.

Due to the face-to-face contact and detention element, the role can be physically demanding, requiring suitable Personal Safety Training Level 2 and maintaining certification.

  • Proven ability to build and sustain productive working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders, fostering inclusive collaboration and the effective sharing of information, resources, and expertise to achieve shared objectives.

Licences

Due to the nature of the work and the geographical area, driving is a key requirement for this role. Applicants must have a full valid UK manual driving licence.

2. Sift – week commencing 25th May 2026

The sift will be held on the Personal Statement and CV.

Should a high volume of applications be received, an initial sift will be conducted on the Personal Statement. Candidates who pass the initial sift will then be progressed to a full sift that will consist of all the remaining elements submitted CV. Candidates who fail to meet the minimum pass score for the initial sift will not have their remaining submitted element scored and will only receive a sift score for that assessed at the initial sift.

3. Interview – week commencing 15th June 2026

If you are successful at sift stage, you will be invited to an interview that will be Behaviours (as listed in the job advert) and Strength based questions.
