Return to Social Work – Children’s Services

Please note: This is an unpaid voluntary opportunity open to individuals who are looking to return to Social Work and are required to carry out a restoration period with Social Work England.

Are you a qualified Social Worker who has had some time away from the profession and are now looking to return?

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Return to Social Work programme, where you'll be provided with dedicated support to help you re-register. It doesn't matter why you left social work or how long you've been away - we can help you return to profession you're passionate about.

If you're a qualified social worker who's taken a break of two years or more, our programme supports returning social workers in completing the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) needed to re-register a Social Work England (SWE). Successful applicants will gain supervised practice with a registered professional, helping them rebuild confidence, refresh their skills, and meet re-registration requirements in a supportive environment.

Eligibility Criteria

• You must have previously been registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or Social Work England (SWE)
• You must not have be removed from the register due to a listed offence
• You must not have been subject to a removal order within the last five years, OR, if more than five years have passed since the order, you must not have made an unsuccessful application to restore your registration within the last 12 months
• You must not have been convicted of a listed offence
