What You'll Be Doing
- Lead a small, dynamic team in analysing housing revenue spend to construct accurate and compliant revenue service charges.
- Oversee statutory consultations and engage directly with homeowners and service providers.
- Champion process improvements using innovative technology and strategic collaboration across council departments.
- Ensure compliance with leasehold legislation and financial regulations through meticulous attention to detail.
- Develop strong, effective relationships with internal stakeholders, the wider community, and political decision-makers.
- Present complex financial reports to leaseholder forums, committees, senior leadership, and Cabinet Members.
- Identify and implement initiatives to continuously raise standards across the team.
- Lead on critical service developments and projects, shaping action plans to deliver real impact.
- Safeguard and elevate Southwark Council’s reputation through the delivery of a high-quality, professional revenue service.
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience in local authority service charge construction and leasehold financial management.
- In-depth knowledge of Landlord & Tenant Act, Housing & Finance Acts, and related case law.
- Strong understanding of housing services, repairs and maintenance, procurement processes, and contract management.
- Advanced skills in data analysis, Excel, and financial reporting systems.
- Proven success in navigating accountancy environments within large, mixed-tenure property portfolios.
- Confidence in leading discussions, presenting to senior stakeholders, and engaging with the public.
- A passion for leading people, you’ll have a track record of developing others and delivering results and shared goals.
- You have a track record of service improvement, driving revenue service transformation, and finding smarter, more efficient ways to work.
- Able to manage programmes and projects, making sure every milestone is hit and every challenge tackled.
- You’ll enjoy a hybrid working pattern, combining the comfort of home working with collaboration days at our London Bridge office.
