Job summary

There is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to join the W16 Logistics Supply Chain Team at RNAS Culdrose in the Inflammable Store as the Storekeeper.

The team at W16 is a hybrid of Civil Service and Military workforce who work hand in hand to ensure the Merlin Force and Base Facilities remain Operational. The Inflammable Storekeeper is a critical role within the support of the Aviation at Culdrose and assists supporting operations around the world. This role is essential to enabling operational flying activity by demanding, receiving, and maintaining vital assets to support the station. As Storekeeper you will be responsible for maintaining the correct stock levels of Gas Cylinders and in the Flammable stores, keeping them at the desired storage temperature to ensure there is no loss of capability to the Merlin Force aircraft.

You will also be responsible as a building manager, you will need to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of the building, and you will be responsible for reporting any defects you encounter or are brought to your attention in annual inspections from outside agencies.

Job description

The Inflammable Storekeeper is part of the W16 Logistic Supply Chain Organisation and sits within the Logistics Department of RNAS CULDROSE.

Key responsibilities include:

  • The SZ3 is the controller of all Culdrose distribution of Inflammable materials and items held in Stock charge.
  • Ensuring all receipt, despatch, issue, handling, preservation, stowage and security of stores are properly and consistently applied.
  • Assisting in maintaining the integrity of the Supply Chain account by completing all transactions promptly using appropriate IT or manual accounting systems.
  • Complete all online and F2F training to ensure the Rules and Regulations of movement of Inflammable stores within and outside of Culdrose are compliant IAW with Defence Logistic Framework.
  • Responsible for the efficient accounting and storekeeping of the Inflammable Store and associated compounds.
  • Sub responsibility of demanding, controlling and issuing of Bottled Gas.
  • Complete local Health and Safety checks within the Storage facility and manage any actions as a result from external inspections.
  • Act as the Supply Chain SME for all items subject to COSHH and Flammable regulations.
  • Act as incident manager in the event of a spillage in either the Flammable store or W16 and associated areas.
  • Building Manager (W16B) with the maintenance of building security, cleanliness and environmental issues.

The successful candidate will play a vital role providing logistical support, contributing to the overall success of its operations.

  • Compressed Gas Management Lead
  • DSEAR handling hazardous material advisor to W16
  • A member of Culdrose’s Practical Pollution Prevention Team

Person specification

The desirable skills of the successful applicant are:

  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining a high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security and confidentiality.
  • Could learn, pass and drive a Forklift Truck (training will be provided on site).
  • As building manager, you would need the drive and enthusiasm to maintain a safe working environment and manage building defects.
  • Be familiar with Microsoft IT software and have a desire to learn new logistic based IT systems (training will be given).

  • GCSE/Equivalent English and Maths Grade C or above
  • Full UK Driving Licence Category.
