The role

An exciting opportunity to join our school

Woolston CE Primary School is seeking to appoint an organised, proactive and highly effective School Business Manager to join our school community.

This is a key role within the school, working closely with the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and Governing Body to ensure that the school's finances, people, premises, systems and resources are managed effectively and strategically.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the school's continued development and ensuring that resources are used efficiently to support the best possible outcomes for our pupils.

The role will include responsibility for:

  • financial and budget management;
  • financial monitoring and reporting;
  • procurement and contract management;
  • HR administration and workforce processes;
  • health and safety and compliance;
  • risk management;
  • school administration and systems;
  • line management and staff development;
  • supporting the Headteacher and governors with strategic decision-making.

We are looking for someone who:

  • has strong financial, organisational and administrative skills;
  • can manage budgets accurately and provide clear financial advice;
  • understands the importance of value for money;
  • can manage competing priorities and meet deadlines;
  • has excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • can build positive relationships with staff, governors and external providers;
  • is confident identifying risks and finding practical solutions;
  • can work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team;
  • demonstrates high levels of integrity, discretion and confidentiality;
  • is committed to safeguarding and the wellbeing of children.

Experience of working within a school environment and knowledge of school financial systems would be advantageous.
