We are recruiting a School Support Officer at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 hours
Contract Type: Full Time, Fixed Term until 31st March 2028
Location: Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.

Team: Finance (School Support)

Education Finance is looking to recruit a School Support Officer within its busy customer focussed School Support section. The post is within a small team that provides financial information and support to Primary, Secondary and Special schools within the County Borough.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of a range of financial related issues and can prove they have the ability to work within a pressurised finance environment. You must have excellent communication and IT skills together with a flexible and co-operative attitude.

Experience of working within an Education Finance division would also be an advantage albeit not essential, as full training will be provided.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs Grade A*-C including Mathematics and English Language or equivalent relevant qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework which require the same level of ability in Mathematics and English Language
  • A suitable level of understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Experience of working in a finance environment
  • Able to travel to various locations across the county borough and attend scheduled appointments within agreed timeframes
