As part of our in-house Uniformed Security Team, you’ll provide a reassuring presence for staff and visitors to HMGCC while maintaining the security of our site and buildings. With your high level of customer service skills, you’ll welcome people to our organisation and provide clear accessible guidance on the procedures that keep the site safe and secure.
You’ll be part of a supportive, inclusive team environment where your contributions and perspectives will be truly valued.
You will have practical experience using IT tools to record and communicate information, including writing incident reports and working with spreadsheets. You can express yourself clearly—verbally and in writing—when supporting stakeholders with security best practice.
As you’ll be monitoring security systems such as CCTV and the Automated Access Control System (AACS), you’ll have an eye for detail to identify any concerns. Should you need to respond to alarms or incidents across the site, you’ll do so calmly and professionally.

Putting your skills to use
Using your diverse range of skills within the Security team, you will:
- Be responsible for the physical security of HMGCC staff, visitors, and its assets.
- Prevent unauthorised access to site in accordance with current policy.
- Conduct receptionist duties, welcoming and booking in our visitors to site.
- Provide a professional, approachable presence and assist visitors, staff, and contractors courteously and efficiently.
- Conduct site and building patrols and security checks.
- Monitor and operate CCTV and AACS systems.
- Conduct security checks using airport style X-ray equipment.
- Respond to system alarms and incidents.
- Conduct vehicle, staff, and visitor searching.

More about you
To apply for this role, you will already have:
- Experience delivering customer service in a public facing environment.
- The ability to communicate clearly, calmly and professionally, particularly when dealing with challenging situations.
- Practical experience of IT tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel to record information, produce documents, or update spreadsheets.
- A reasonable level of physical fitness sufficient to attend incidents and carry out daily operational duties.
It would be beneficial if you also have one of the following (although these are not essential):
- CCTV and AACS (Automated Access Control System) experience.
