Job summary

The Parliamentary Security Department (PSD) is seeking a Security Operations Centre (SOC) Operator to play a vital role at the heart of security delivery within the House of Commons. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced control room environment where your decisions directly support the safety of colleagues, visitors and one of the UK’s most iconic institutions.

Job description

As an Operator, you will monitor live incidents, manage dispatches and coordinate frontline security responses in real time. Acting as a central communication hub, you will provide clear updates and operational guidance to officers via radio, create accurate incident logs, respond to alarm activations and oversee CCTV systems in line with legislative and procedural requirements.

This role offers a unique chance to contribute to high-profile security operations, working alongside internal teams, police and emergency services in a professional, collaborative and mission-focused environment.

Person specification

  • Ability to provide timely and accurate information in fast-paced, high-pressure situations;
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team;
  • Ability to identify potential risks or suspicious activity, prioritise tasks effectively, and support incident response;
  • Good working knowledge and experience of working in a control room environment;
  • Substantial experience of working in high-pressure environments, with the ability to respond quickly and appropriately to live incidents.
