Salary: £25,995 -£26,409 per annum (Pro rata for part time) Pay award pending

Working Hours: 2 x 37 hours per week & 1 x 16 hour

Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a highly organised and motivated individual to join the Special Educational Needs Assessment (SENA) Service as a SENA Assistant.

This is a key role providing high-quality administrative and operational support to ensure the effective delivery of services to children and families. You will play a vital part in managing referrals, maintaining accurate records, supporting casework processes, and ensuring excellent customer service for families, schools and partner agencies.

The role requires a proactive approach, strong organisational skills and the ability to work confidently with sensitive information in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting the coordination and administration of SENA processes, including referrals and casework activity
  • Maintaining accurate and timely records across information systems
  • Liaising with families, schools and professionals to gather and share information
  • Providing high-quality customer service through telephone, email and face-to-face contact
  • Supporting data quality and reporting requirements
  • Assisting with meeting coordination, correspondence and documentation

About You

To apply for this post, you must have:

  • Recognised academic qualifications such as GCSEs or equivalent, including NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in literacy and numeracy, and NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration (or equivalent experience), along with word processing skills and willingness to undertake further software training.
  • Experience in a clerical or administrative role, ideally within a public sector setting, including handling correspondence, record systems, and general office duties.
  • Demonstrable experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other software systems, including maintaining and developing electronic and manual record systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with members of the public and staff at all levels, with good written skills to produce high-quality materials for a variety of audiences.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality at all times and deal appropriately with sensitive information in line with service requirements.
  • Ability to manage and co-ordinate a busy workload, prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure using own initiative.
  • Evidence of delivering excellent customer care, working effectively as part of a team, and liaising with internal staff, external agencies, and the public
