SEND Classroom Lead

37.5 Hours Monday – Friday, Term Time only plus up to 10 training days as required.

Starting £24,800 per annum (actual) Negotiable depending on experience and OTS

Kaleidoscope School are looking for an enthusiastic, active class lead to join our team and deliver a broad and enriching curriculum to a small group of children to help support their emotional, social and behavioural needs. The ideal candidate would meet the following criteria:

·The candidate will be able to implement an alternative, needs driven curriculum with high levels of activity, outdoor education and nurture.

·Understand that the curriculum can be delivered in a creative way and should also take into account the interests of the learner.

· A person with challenging behaviour experience who would be confident in supporting a small class (maximum 6)

· Must have a strong sense of resilience and a ‘tomorrow is a new day’ attitude.

·Should want to have fun, engage and motivate the young person to learn in a learner lead way.

·Must be able to work closely with the class staff to ensure consistent and manageable interventions and strategies are in place.

·Is familiar with behaviour interventions such as a 5-point scale andwindows of tolerance.

·Can recognise and respond appropriately to non-verbal communication.

·Be able to follow through with boundaries in a child centred approach.

·Be creative with distraction and redirection techniques.

·Will engage the child in activities to meet their sensory needs such as circuits and prescriptive exercises.

·The successful candidate is willing to learn and discuss tactics and strategies with class staff and implement new ideas.
