This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children and young people aged 0-25 with SEND across Calderdale, supporting inclusion, improving outcomes, and helping educational settings develop outstanding SEND practice.

About the Role
As a SEND Specialist Teacher, you will provide specialist assessment, teaching, advice, training and support to schools, educational settings, children, young people and their families. • Contributing to Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments and reviews.
• Developing resources and training programmes to build SEND capacity across the borough.
• Line managing up to three SEND Specialist Outreach Workers.
• Working closely with families, schools and multi-agency partners to improve outcomes for children and young people.

About You
You will be a qualified teacher with substantial experience of working with children and young people with SEND and multi-sensory impairments. You will bring excellent teaching skills, strong communication abilities and a commitment to inclusion.

Essential requirements include:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• A postgraduate qualification in Multi-Sensory Impairment, or be working towards obtaining one.
• Experience in identifying and assessing the needs of children and young people with MSI/SEND.
• Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and inclusive teaching practice.
• Experience of developing and delivering training and support for school staff.
• Ability to build positive partnerships with schools, families and professionals.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes (reasonable adjustments will be considered where appropriate).

Why Join Us?
At Calderdale, we are committed to ensuring that every child and young person with SEND can thrive in their local community and educational setting. You'll join a highly skilled and supportive team with opportunities to influence SEND practice across the borough while continuing your own professional development.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
