We are seeking a Senior Accountant (Collection Fund & Tax) to support the Principal Accountant (Strategic) in producing, maintaining, updating, monitoring and closing of all records relating to Collection Fund, Vat and other assigned areas. In addition, this role will provide expert accountancy advice throughout the Council for taxation related enquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of budgets, monitoring, and reporting for the collection fund and other specified areas

  • Provide Tax advice to Heads of Service and Service Managers to assist in managing their financial affairs and correct accounting of VAT.

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting

  • Assist in providing financial aspects of audits, risk assessments, and long-term asset planning.

  • To complete all relevant statutory returns, grant claims and other relevant returns relevant to the role, including the reconciling, accounting & submitting VAT returns.

  • Reconciliation of Collection Fund, VAT and other assigned areas

We are looking for an accountant with some knowledge of local government finance or similar complex environments:

  • Collection Fund Accounting

  • VAT

  • Excellent technical skills with a strategic mindset.

  • Experience working across teams, especially within multi-disciplinary and project-based settings.
