Job description

We look forward to reading your application for the role of Senior Administrator.

The selected candidate will; Provide professional, efficient and comprehensive administrative support, carrying out specialist and general office duties, resolve problems and role model best practice within Operations and Business Services Team.

Person specification

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide a full administrative service to include (as required) typing, email, data entry and create, maintain and back up files and databases to track activities and workload. Maintain college web pages as directed.
  • Develop, maintain and update office filing systems (digital by default) to ensure appropriate and efficient monitoring, tracking and retrieval of records in compliance with College of Policing Information Security procedures and Data Protection and Freedom of Information principles and provisions.
  • Compile, analyse and summarise data to produce a range of management reports, in accordance with business needs, for example course statistics, registrations, financial information including income and cancellation data, and portfolio and assessment submissions.
  • Coordinate events using appropriate technologies including the College Internal booking management system and Outlook, including booking rooms and equipment, scheduling attendees and arranging refreshments as required. Arrange for travel, catering and accommodation to be booked in accordance with College of Policing procedures.

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

  • GCSE Passes in English Language and Mathematics or equivalent qualifications
  • Previous administrative experience with demonstrable organisational ability and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with customer-focused attitude and telephone manner
  • Ability to prioritise work to ensure deadlines are met
  • Ability to work in a pressurised environment dealing with a range of tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

There are 2 roles available:

1 x FTC for 23 months based at our sites in either Ryton-on-Dunsmore (CV8 3EN), Durham (DL15 8DS), office based or as a hybrid working opportunity.

1x permanent based at our sites in either Ryton-on-Dunsmore (CV8 3EN), Durham (DL15 8DS) or as a hybrid working opportunity. Homeworking can also be discussed prior to you taking up your post

For fixed Term contracts:

Whilst this fixed term contract is offered on the understanding that it will only last as long as the stated contract length, there could be a possibility that it could be extended or made permanent should circumstances allow.

We anticipate that further 1B Senior Administration roles will become available in 2026 and as well as filling the 2 advertised roles from this recruitment process, we will be creating a Reserve List from this recruitment campaign/process.
