Job summary

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Analyst to join our team supporting the Cereals & Oilseeds sector, to work on a hybrid basis, two/three days from our HQ in Coventry and the remainder working remotely from home, Monday to Friday.

As a market specialist, this role has responsibility for researching, analysing and interpreting cereal and oilseeds market information and clearly communicating analytical insight and intelligence to AHDB and its levy payers.

We are looking for a highly analytical individual with excellent communications skills and clear evidence of having prepared and communicated economic and market insight through a variety of sources. Knowledge or a background in the agriculture sector is preferred, although not essential.

Established in 2008, AHDB is the independent, impartial public body that unlocks success in British agriculture. Funded by a levy from over 100,000 British farmers, growers and processors in the beef, lamb, pork, dairy and cereals sectors, we support and champion farmers and processors, often where no one else can or will.

Job description

  • Prepare and disseminate analysis, interpretation and commentary relating to cereals and oilseeds agricultural commodity markets, farm businesses and the economic environment that they operate in
  • Support the production of UK cereals supply and demand official estimates
  • Regularly deliver impactful market insight presentations to levy payers, industry stakeholders and wider audiences
  • Develop and maintain close contact with industry, government and media stakeholders to ensure information remains relevant and is effectively disseminated
  • Manage and undertake specific analytical projects, producing written outputs with key messages clearly and effectively communicated
  • Be a key contact for members of the industry and high-profile key stakeholders relating to the analysis being conducted
  • Help to mentor and coach analysts with the potential of line management responsibilities

Person specification

  • Professional qualification to at least degree standard in Economics/Agriculture or another numerate discipline, or equivalent experience – ideally within the agriculture sector, although not essential
  • Strong experience of preparing, delivering and communicating economic/market analysis
  • Working knowledge of modern IT applications, including Excel and PowerPoint (Power BI preferred, but not essential)
  • High level of attention to detail, with excellent project and planning skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
