About the role

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Applications Support Officer to play a key role in supporting and enhancing the Council’s core business systems, with a particular focus on Revenues & Benefits and financial applications. These systems are critical to the delivery of services that directly impact our residents, and you will ensure they are reliable, secure, and performing effectively.

In this role, you’ll work at the heart of our Applications team, providing advanced technical support, resolving complex issues, and driving improvements across our application estate. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across ICT, service areas, and external suppliers to ensure systems meet evolving business needs, while also contributing to projects, upgrades, and ongoing modernisation activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong application support experience to take on a senior, influential role—combining technical expertise, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement to make a real difference to how critical council services are delivered.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you’ll be hands-on in supporting and improving the Council’s key Revenues & Benefits and financial systems. Day to day, you’ll investigate and resolve complex application issues, work closely with users to understand and fix problems, and ensure systems remain stable, secure, and performing well.

You’ll act as a senior point of contact within the Applications team—supporting colleagues, managing escalations, and working with external suppliers to resolve issues and deliver system changes. Alongside support, you’ll also be involved in system upgrades, enhancements, and projects, helping to modernise our application landscape and improve how services are delivered.

A big part of the role is working with service teams to help them get the most from their systems—whether that’s improving processes, providing guidance and training, or identifying opportunities to make services more efficient and effective.
