An exciting opportunity has arisen within Digital Services for an enthusiastic, versatile and self-motivated Senior Business Intelligence Officer.

You will work alongside other colleagues, including a Policy and Performance Officer, to support the development of the Families First Partnership (FFP) programme within Derbyshire. This programme has been established to support reforms, aiming to take a whole-system approach to rebalancing children’s social care towards early intervention. Following the launch, we are building additional local capacity to drive forward these changes to ensure that children and families in our local area benefit from earlier help and stronger support. This is an exciting time of change and a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping one of the most significant national shifts in children’s social care in recent decades.

The role will sit within the Council’s newly formed central Data and Analytics Service alongside other Officers who provide business intelligence, data collection and data expertise to support the operational management and strategic planning of services across the Council.

The successful applicant will take a lead role in ensuring that the data requirements of the programme are met. This will include the following key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring case management systems can capture required information and establishing methods for capturing data from partner organisations where required.
  • Extract data from the children’s case management system for analysis using interrogative languages (eg. SQL).
  • Matching data from a range of sources to produce dashboards and analysis to present to a range of audiences.
  • Deliver statutory returns.

We are looking for a dedicated, personable individual to work closely with the operational leads, system providers and wider Digital Services and Corporate colleagues to deliver successful outcomes to support the aims of the programme.

The qualities of the successful applicant will include:

  • Ability to build good working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with experience of delivering successful project outcomes.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet targets within prescribed timescales.
  • Established and proficient Digital Skills, including SQL and Power BI.
  • Ability to guide and influence employees and managers at a senior level.

The role provides a varied and challenging development opportunity working across a wider team. As well as technical skills, candidates should be enthusiastic and customer focused, possess effective problem-solving abilities and the ability to manage projects.

The successful candidate will need to be flexible in the areas of work they cover and will ideally have an understanding of how recording systems support operational delivery and good practice in recording information.
