Job summary
UK Security Vetting (UKSV) is looking for a Senior Business Manager. This role will support the Chief of Staff, playing a crucial part in overseeing the delivery of essential services related to our nation’s vetting operations. This position demands a self-starter and highly organised leader capable of managing competing priorities effectively. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate closely with the Chief of Staff and contribute to the strategic direction of the office, ensuring effective engagement with stakeholders across UKSV, the Cabinet Office, and governmental partners.Job description
Your daily duties will include but not be limited to:
● Lead an array of corporate tasks, including secretariat support for UKSV’s Key Governance boards e.g., Ministerial Oversight Board
● Prepare and organise the coordination of papers for boards, meetings and briefings, whilst managing actions resulting from such events
● Participate in strategic initiatives, and communicate results back to the UKSV ELT
● Manage and support communication flow, as a result of outcomes from various boards, sharing information with various stakeholders, such as ELT, SLT and UKSV Comms Team to facilitate this
● Provide and implement quality assurance processes for draft papers with the key stakeholders prior to each meeting, and communicate feedback on any required amendments to paper authors
● Line management of the Governance team.
Person specification
As a Senior Business Manager within UK Security Vetting, we are looking for people who have the following expertise and attributes:
Essential criteria:
● Ability to quickly assimilate and analyse unfamiliar material, making sound judgements and recommendations.
● Understanding of policy and strategic analysis to provide challenge and innovative ideas across a broad range of issues.
● Expertise in developing and managing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including those with
competing interests.
● Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
● Strong analytical and organisational skills for building operating and governance models in complex environments.
● Previous Governance/secretariat experience.
Desirable criteria:
● Knowledge of vetting processes.

Additional information:
Cabinet Office policy is that a minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. For some roles, due to their nature and the business need, this may be up to 100%. Requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.
