Job summary

We are recruiting for a Senior Business Services Manager (Operations) to lead and innovate our operational business services, supporting children, families, and the courts across England.

The office base is flexible for this role, however there is an expectation of frequent travel to offices across the country as required in order to carry out your duties.

As the national lead for operational business services, you will:

  • Oversee and develop business service teams, ensuring the efficient workflow of children’s cases from application to closure.
  • Lead the implementation of best-practice processes and systems, driving service efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure excellent customer service is provided to all visitors at local offices.
  • Play a key role in strategic planning, performance analysis, and quality assurance.
  • Manage budgets (£2m–£5m), resources, and staff, fostering a culture of resilience, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion the wellbeing, morale, and engagement of your workforce, ensuring alignment with Cafcass’s values and the Together framework.
  • Represent Cafcass at internal and external meetings, and act as deputy for the Head of Business and Family Support Services when required

Person specification

As the national lead for our Operational Business Services, you will have:

  • Degree-level education or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Extensive management experience in business services within a medium to large, ideally national, organization.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and deliver business improvements.
  • Strong people management skills, including performance management and staff development.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively.
  • Analytical, creative, and proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and the needs of children.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK as required.
