Senior Caretaker – Lead the Charge in Keeping Our Communities Clean, Safe and Sparkling
Are you someone who takes pride in creating clean, safe spaces for others? As a Senior Caretaker, you’ll be the go-to person on your estate—leading a small frontline team, rolling up your sleeves, and making sure everything from bin rooms to communal areas is spotless and hazard-free.
You’ll be hands-on, proactive, and passionate about maintaining high standards. Whether it’s jet-washing a walkway, scrubbing floors, or supporting your team to deliver Peabody’s Gold Standard for Cleanliness, you’ll be making a visible difference every day.
What you’ll do
- Lead and support a small team to deliver scheduled caretaking services across residential blocks
- Carry out communal cleaning, litter clearance, and deep cleaning tasks (think jet washing, floor scrubbing, and graffiti removal)
- Tidy bin rooms, remove bulk refuse, and keep paths safe in icy weather
- Conduct lighting checks and emergency lighting tests
- Allocate duties, monitor performance, and report defects using Peabody systems
- Organise tools, equipment, and PPE, ensuring everything’s safe and ready to go
- Promote health and safety across your site and respond to complaints with professionalism
What you’ll need
- Experience in caretaking or cleaning services
- Strong leadership and time management skills
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities
- General practical skills and Health & Safety awareness (including COSHH)
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- A good standard of literacy and attention to detail
- Experience liaising with the public and resolving issues on site
- A current UK driving licence

Salary range
- £30,135 per year
