A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Plymouth City Council’s Community Connections Team, Housing Standards as a Senior Community Connections Officer focusing on Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG).

While Community Connections is a multi-disciplinary team, this role focuses on assisting with the day-to-day delivery of DFGs, including holding a caseload. The main drivers for this role are to ensure that DFG clients remain independent and safe in their own homes and eligible adaptations are provided in a timely manner to meet their assessed needs.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team, working closely with Senior Community Connections Officers (SCCOs), a Community Connections Officer (CCO), Housing Occupational Therapists, and partners, with a focus on the day-to-day delivery of DFGs.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a good understanding of DFGs, including national legislation, local policy and recommended best practice. The successful candidate will also be able to work with the Major Adaptations Manager to improve service delivery, including identifying efficiency savings in cost, quality, and time.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, able to work on their own and as part of a team, be a good communicator and be committed to continual improvement.

The successful candidate must be educated to Degree level or equivalent in a relevant field such as in Environmental Health or Building Studies/Construction.

And/or substantial relevant and practical experience in DFG case management and problem solving. This will include a sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policy (both local and national) and government initiatives relating to DFGs.

This role is not suitable for flexible working due to the needs of the service.

The Disclosure & Barring Service Check requirement for this post is: Basic Check.
