    We are looking to recruit a Senior Development Surveyor - Acquisition and Disposal or a Development Surveyor - Acquisition and Disposal , depending on skills and experience.


    The Department

    Portsmouth City Council’s Property and Investment Team is part of the Economy, Transport and Planning Directorate. We manage a multi million pound property portfolio spanning industrial, retail, office, leisure, agricultural, and alternative sectors—including a major municipal port. Our work generates £25 million annually and supports regeneration and capital projects across the UK.


    What is the role?

    As part of our multi-disciplinary Property and Investment Team, you’ll lead on property development matters across a diverse UK-wide portfolio. Your responsibilities include:

    • Assist with the delivery of the Council's regeneration plans and identify opportunities for development.
    • Conducting options appraisals for acquisitions, disposals, and development.
    • Preparing reports and valuations to support strategic decisions.
    • Negotiating acquisitions and disposals in support of Council strategies.
    • Providing professional property services under contract for other authorities.


    Who is the person?

    You will be a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS or FRICS) with significant post-qualification experience and a strong commercial focus on maximising returns. You will bring:

    • Expertise in development, acquisition, and disposal strategies.
    • Ability to analyse complex property data and deliver innovative solutions.
    • Excellent negotiation and technical skills.
    • IT proficiency and familiarity with property systems.
    • Flexibility to travel across the city and UK.
