
Senior Dietitian/Nutritionist
Job summary
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Dietitian/Nutritionist to work on a hybrid basis, two/three days from our HQ in Coventry and the remainder working remotely from home, Monday to Friday. A valid full UK driving licence is essential, along with the flexibility to travel to meetings when needed.
This newly created, high‑impact position requires a visionary nutrition leader with broad expertise across multiple disciplines, including nutrition science, healthcare communications, public relations and content development, regulatory affairs, external stakeholder engagement, project management and human nutrition research.
The role will play a central part in demonstrating the contribution of dairy, cereals, beef, lamb and pork within a healthy, balanced diet. This includes providing robust scientific expertise and rigour to inform and shape national and international discussions on what constitutes a healthy and sustainable dietary pattern.
Educated to a minimum of degree level in human nutrition, nutrition science, dietetics or clinical nutrition, you will also hold RD or AfN accreditation, along with extensive experience in reviewing nutrition science and communicating complex information effectively to non‑technical audiences. Experience within the food industry and an understanding of sustainable diets are preferred, though not essential.

Funded by a levy from over 100,000 British farmers, growers and processors in the beef, lamb, pork, dairy and cereals sectors, we support and champion farmers and processors, often where no one else can or will.
Job description
- Support the strategic and technical direction on nutrition and health to enhance the reputation of UK farming with consumers and external stakeholders, ensuring that scientific expertise and excellence is maintained and enhanced
- Work with the Head of Nutrition and Health to develop and implement a Health Care Professional engagement strategy that will help to protect and promote the reputation of levy products within the context of a healthy, balanced diet
- Support the delivery and running of a diverse range of scientific and educational activities, information and events (including digital resources, website resources, symposiums, webinars, farm visits)
- Lead Health Care Professional social media content creation
- Work with the Marketing team to deliver proactive strategies for maximising levy products within the context of a healthy, balanced diet as part of our reputation work and associated consumer campaigns
- Provide nutritional support on marketing activities, including guidance to ensure compliance with Nutrition and Health Claim legislation and Advertising Standards Authority regulations
- Develop and work collaboratively with relevant nutrition organisations to ensure levy products are recognised for the role they play within a healthy, balanced diet
- Identify new event opportunities to raise awareness of the scientific reputation and credibility of AHDB within the HCP community
- Undertake regular horizon-scanning activities to identify opportunities and threats for AHDB sectors
Person specification
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nutrition, nutrition science, dietetics or clinical nutrition
- RD or AfN accreditation, with a strong track record in reviewing nutrition science and communicating complex information effectively to non‑technical audiences
- Background within the food industry and awareness of sustainable diet principles (desirable, but not essential)
- Demonstrated ability to work with key stakeholders to inform policy and public dietary guidance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including confident presentation skills
- Proficiency in science communication, including social media content creation that showcases creativity and scientific accuracy
- A positive, proactive attitude, with commitment, enthusiasm and an appetite for driving change
- A full UK driving licence, with the flexibility to travel to meetings as required
