Senior Electrical Engineer
About the job
Salary: £45,718 - £48,710 a year plus £3,203 car benefit allowance
Hours per week: 37
Contract type: Permanent
Are you a seasoned Electrical Engineer looking to take the lead on a wide range of meaningful projects? We're on the lookout for someone with technical expertise and strong leadership skills to join our Project Design and Delivery Team.
In this role, you’ll be at the heart of our work—helping to shape the future of construction projects across schools, commercial spaces, housing developments, and public buildings. You’ll be responsible for providing leadership and delivering high-quality electrical design services, while also ensuring that every project meets both technical and financial expectations.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading all aspects of electrical building services design from concept through to completion.
- Playing a key role in the delivery of new and existing construction projects—ensuring designs are innovative, efficient, and sustainable.
- Coordinating and overseeing work produced by both internal engineers and external consultants.
- Maintaining oversight of design standards, ensuring compliance with technical regulations and project objectives.
- Managing timelines, budgets, and resources to meet delivery targets.
- Mentoring junior team members and promoting best practices across the team.
About you
You bring substantial experience in Building Electrical Services Engineering, with a proven track record of both delivering and managing complex work within this field. You have a good understanding of how policy and strategy can shape effective electrical engineering services, and you've had some hands-on involvement in their development and implementation.
You're confident using AutoCAD and Revit-based software to produce clear, accurate technical drawings, and you're skilled in carrying out detailed electrical design calculations—leveraging tools such as Hevacomp, StabiCAD, or similar.
Planning, prioritising, and managing your workload comes naturally to you. You’re able to handle competing demands and project deadlines while staying focused on quality and efficiency. You have a strong grasp of relevant legislation and statutory requirements, including CDM regulations, asbestos regulations, and IEE wiring regulations, and you ensure your work always remains compliant.
You hold a relevant professional qualification and are a member of a recognised institution—such as CIBSE, IEE—or bring an equivalent combination of training and verifiable work-based experience.
