Job Introduction

We’re looking for an exceptional Senior Employee Experience Partner to help us make a difference to our planet.

As our Senior Employee Experience Partner, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week, but we would also consider applicants wishing to work a minimum of 34 hours per week and we will also try our best to consider those intending to work a job share. Your world of expertise

You will lead the delivery of Employee Experience services, ensuring colleagues receive a high-quality, consistent and proactive service throughout their employment lifecycle at the Met Office.

Reporting to the Head of People Operations, the role is accountable for leading and developing a team to deliver efficient, customer-focused services across all aspects of the employee lifecycle, from onboarding through to exit. The postholder ensures services are well-managed, continuously improved and aligned to organisational priorities.

Your key duties:

  • Ensure delivery of the Employee Experience service meeting quality standards.
  • Leadership of the team as an excellent People Manager, setting clear direction and being an active part of the Employee Experience Management team.
  • Foster strong and respected working relationships with various stakeholders – including managing the relationship with the Trade Union (Prospect), ensuring collaborative working across our organisation by supporting development of Senior Leaders and Line Managers
  • Inspire and deliver continuous service improvement - Drive excellence by being able to multi-task across several key people projects and championing innovative ways of working.
  • Be the Employee Experience expert by nature, demonstrating best practice, sound knowledge and decisive decision making across the specialism to continuously drive improvement for the service.

As our Senior Employee Experience Partner, your total reward package will be up to £75,857 annually, which includes:

  • £54,515 base pay
  • An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%
  • Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave

Essential Criteria, skills and experience:

  • You are an expert by nature with demonstrable knowledge and experience of a wide range of People profession practices such as employee lifecycle, employee relations, HR systems and pay/benefits
  • Strong leadership and management skills demonstrating where you have managed the delivery of a quality HR service through people and made effective, timely decisions as needed
  • Experience of using problem solving skills at pace to scope, develop, deliver and communicate relevant people projects or update people practices
  • Experience of working better together with a variety of stakeholders such as peers, senior managers and trades union representatives to manage expectations and deliver effective people outcomes with quality service
  • You are always looking to evolve yourself and your work and can demonstrate this experience through developing new people approaches to meet business requirements.
  • The panel may perform a preliminary sift of the lead criteria as indicated above. We may also weight that criteria in other elements of the process.
