
Senior Environmental Protection Officer
The role
We are looking for a qualified EHO or an experienced environmental protectional professional who is passionate about:
- protecting the public and our local environment
- delivering statutory services that align with our council priorities
- making a tangible impact on our communities
This is a diverse and rewarding regulatory role where no two days are the same. You’ll be at the forefront of environmental protection working with, and across, wide teams and a variety of issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess planning applications for environmental health impacts (noise, air quality and contaminated land).
- Investigate complaints relating to statutory nuisances, including noise, odour, smoke, light, and dust.
- Respond to enviro-crime and waste related issues.
- Regulate environmental protection legislation.
- Regulate Private Water Supplies.
- Regulate local authority permitted processes.
- Respond to pollution incidents from both commercial and domestic sources.
- Support local authority air quality management and monitor key environmental indicators.
- Prepare professional correspondence, reports, legal notices and witness statements.
- To enhance and improve service delivery
This is a diverse regulatory role, and you must be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of good regulatory principles and apply these across the full scope of the Team’s work. Understanding of legislative frameworks, an ability to interpret legislation and apply technical guidance is an essential aspect of this role.
