    Summary

    Welcome

Thank you for your interest in joining the People Directorate at Notting Hill Genesis.

Our HR function is evolving into a confident, proactive partnership model. We work alongside leaders to manage risk well, support fair and consistent decision‑making and build a positive, values‑led colleague experience.

The Senior ER Manager plays a critical role in this ambition. As the organisation's lead expert in employee relations, you will shape how we manage risk, handle complexity and uphold high professional and ethical standards across the organisation.

You do not need housing sector experience to succeed. What matters most is deep ER expertise, sound judgement and the confidence to influence at senior levels.

What the role is all about

As Senior ER Manager, you will lead the organisation‑wide employee relations strategy, providing expert oversight of complex casework, industrial relations, policy and governance. You will ensure ER practice is consistent, legally compliant and aligned to our values.

Working as part of the HR senior management team, you will partner closely with Senior HR Business Partners and Centres of Expertise, providing insight, challenge and leadership that strengthens organisational confidence, capability and culture.

    How you'll make a difference

You will strengthen organisational performance and trust by:

    • Delivering a clear, proactive ER strategy that manages and reduces organisational risk.
    • Ensuring fair, consistent and high‑quality handling of complex and sensitive ER cases.
    • Providing trusted advice to senior leaders, HRBPs and Centres of Expertise.
    • Using ER insight and analytics to identify trends, hotspots and prevention opportunities.
    • Modernising ER policy, governance and ways of working.

Your impact will be seen through reduced risk, improved decision‑making, stronger leadership confidence and a colleague experience that reflects our values.

    How you'll do it

    • Lead the organisation‑wide ER strategy aligned to the People Strategy and workforce priorities.
    • Provide expert advice on complex ER issues, culture and organisational risk to senior leaders, including C‑suite and SLT.
    • Oversee all high‑risk and complex ER casework, including ACAS and Employment Tribunals.
    • Lead, coach and develop the ER Centre of Expertise, setting high professional standards.
    • Produce insight and analytics for senior leaders to inform prevention and capability‑building activity.
    • Own and maintain the ER policy suite, ensuring clarity, accessibility and legal compliance.
    • Work collaboratively across HR to ensure ER insight shapes wider people practice.
    • Champion equality, diversity and inclusion in all ER decisions and approaches.

    All about you

    Essential

    • Extensive experience leading ER activity in a complex, unionised or multi‑site environment.
    • Deep knowledge of UK employment law, ER best practice and industrial relations.
    • Proven expertise handling high‑risk, sensitive and complex cases with sound judgement.
    • Strong influencing, negotiation and coaching skills at senior leadership level.
    • Ability to analyse people data and produce clear, actionable ER insight.
    • Experience leading, coaching and developing ER professionals.
    • CIPD Level 7 qualification or equivalent experience.

    What's in it for you?

You'll have the opportunity to shape ER practice at organisational level, influence senior decision‑making and build a high‑performing ER function within a supportive and professional HR team.
