Job summary

The Prime Minister’s Office enables the Prime Minister to deliver the Government’s overall priorities and to communicate the Government’s policies to Parliament, the public and international audiences. From the Policy Unit, Press Office, Switchboard and Custodians, to the Events & Visits team and the Private Office support; the diverse No10 team draws on varied expertise from across the Civil Service and beyond. The teams come together to deliver excellent service to the Prime Minister while also making No10 a great place to work.

Job description

To manage and deliver event and hospitality operations at No10 North, ensuring visitors, stakeholders and staff receive a professional, welcoming and well-managed experience and that events and activities are planned and delivered to a high standard.

The role is responsible for leading and executing the operational delivery of the No10 North events programme, hospitality, visitor management, and supporting the day-to-day operation of the office. The postholder will support ministerial visits, stakeholder engagements and events, while ensuring No10 North remains operationally ready and maintained to a high standard.

Whilst the role has significant responsibility for leading the delivery of the No10 North events programme, it is also a highly practical, hands-on role. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute across all aspects of the operation, from coordinating high-profile stakeholder events through to supporting the day-to-day visitor and hospitality experience. No task is too large or too small in ensuring No10 North operates effectively and delivers an exceptional experience for visitors and stakeholders.

The postholder will be the primary Front of House and event operations presence at No10 North and the key contact for hospitality, visitor experience and on-site event delivery. They will play an important role in representing the Prime Minister's Office in Manchester and ensuring activity at No10 North is delivered to the highest standard.

The postholder will also provide direct support to the Prime Minister and senior leaders while working at No10 North, responding to ad hoc requests and ensuring requirements are met in a professional, discreet and timely manner.

This role is currently based at No10 North, Heron House, 1 Lincoln Square, Manchester. There will be opportunities, subject to business need, to work from Downing Street. The role will relocate to the long term No10 North Manchester site.

Events Operations

  • Take a leading role in organising ministerial events held at No10 North, including roundtables, bilateral meetings and intimate receptions.
  • Coordinate access and booking requests as part of the wider No10 event programme.
  • Liaise with relevant teams across No10 and other government departments to plan and deliver high-quality events, that meet a wide range of objectives including visual communications. Coordinate room layouts, AV requirements and event logistics.
  • Commission, compile and manage guest lists for events working in partnership with teams within No10, other government departments and external organisations.
  • Work closely with security colleagues, suppliers and partners to ensure events run smoothly.
  • Devise creative options to link with and support the wider No10 events programme.
  • Support the wider No10 Events and Visits Team as required.
  • Assist with the preparation of No10 North for high-profile visits and engagements.
  • Support media activity in No10 North including supervising visiting media.

Front of House and Visitor Experience

  • Manage the day-to-day front of house operation at No10 North.
  • Welcome visitors and stakeholders to the office, ensuring a professional and positive experience.
  • Manage visitor arrivals and reception processes.
  • Act as the first point of contact for visitors, guests and office enquiries.
  • Ensure reception, meeting rooms and visitor areas are maintained to a high standard.
  • Support the Prime Minister and senior leadership team during visits to No10 North, responding to ad hoc operational and hospitality requirements.
  • Support visits by Ministers, senior officials and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain visitor management procedures and guidance.
  • Promote a professional, welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors and staff.

Operations and Facilities Management

  • Support the day-to-day running of the No10 North office.
  • Liaise with facilities management providers, contractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure meeting spaces, hospitality areas and office facilities remain operational and maintained to a high standard.
  • Support compliance with health, safety and security procedures.
  • Lead on the ordering and procurement of office and hospitality supplies.
  • Support supplier management and budget monitoring activities.
  • Contribute to business continuity and operational resilience planning.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and visitor experience.
  • Act as the local point of contact for facilities, maintenance and workplace services activities.

Hospitality

  • Coordinate hospitality requirements for meetings, visits and events.
  • Prepare and serve refreshments for ministerial and senior stakeholder meetings.
  • Liaise with catering providers and hospitality suppliers.
  • Ensure hospitality is delivered to a high standard and represents value for money.
  • Manage hospitality supplies and stock levels.
  • Lead procurement activity for hospitality requirements where appropriate.

Due to the nature of the Prime Minister's Office, this role is highly varied, and no two days are the same. Whilst this document outlines the main responsibilities of the role, the postholder will regularly be required to respond to emerging priorities, support ad hoc requests and undertake additional duties as required. A flexible, solutions-focused approach and a commitment to maintaining smooth operational delivery are essential.

Additional information:

Cabinet Office policy is that a minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. For some roles, due to their nature and the business need, this may be up to 100%. Requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.
