
Senior Finance Manager
Job summary
As a member of the Finance Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will actively support the leadership of the function and manage a team within the Finance Department that provides finance support to the wider business to help the NCA deliver its business objectives. In leading the function you will own and be accountable for delivery of specific elements of the teams objectives. This role will be ideal for those experience qualified accountants who are looking to take the first steps from transitioning from managing finance teams to leading finance functions.
Your team will advise management across the business, up to Board level on all aspects of the day-to-day financial and management accounting within the NCA including: business planning, the estimates process, monthly management reporting and consolidation, and maintaining a robust financial control environment.
Job description
The post holder will be key in providing support to senior management in the delivery of an effective and efficient departmental service and be a key visible leader on the Agency's transformation to an ERP solution.Your role will lead a team to provide support to the Agency to effectively manage the finances of the Agency. You will provide advise to senior leaders on matters that effect financial management and governance, helping shape the decisions at a senior level. Your role could involve working in business planning, the estimates process, monthly financial reporting and consolidation, management of service delivery to include transactional services and maintaining a robust financial control environment.Duties and Responsibilities:- Support senior management colleagues in the delivery of an effective and efficient departmental service deputising where appropriate.
- Manage a team within the Finance Function, supporting the business through policy development, planning, performance, service delivery and governance.
- Provide key management reporting and information for the business to support decision making and achieve business objectives.
- Provide effective, timely financial and management reports, in line with business requirements, statutory and regulatory duties, including supporting documentation to audit standard, ensuring that NCA complies with general accounting standards and NCA’s corporate governance requirements.
- Help business areas develop budget and savings proposals alongside delivery of key strategies i.e. Efficiency Strategy to inform negotiations on future budget delegations.
- Ensure budget holders are clear on their delegated budgets and savings targets, working proactively with the business to ensure accurate budget forecasts are received and accurately reflected on the finance system.
- Manage projects, resources, programmes, planning activity or campaigns to ensure work is completed within agreed timescales/budgets and quality standards, in line with NCA policy, providing high quality financial advice to business areas and SLT.
- Manage the quality, secure handling and dissemination of data/information and develop policy, reports, procedures and manage data systems across business areas.
- Develop and build internal and external partner relations working collaboratively to foster good relations.
- Contribute to the long term financial planning and strategy of the Agency.
- Work with government departments and attend working groups, government committees/meetings.
- Manage the quality of service delivery, business and supplier performance, to ensure continuous improvement in service standards.
- Champion financial awareness and financial management across the business, managing the design, development, planning and delivery of training products to meet learning requirements.
- Manage issues relating to the performance and conduct of officers in line with the NCA values. Manage/coach and develop staff.
Person specification
