Senior Gardener – Care for High‑Quality Landscapes and Support the Next Generation
Are you an experienced gardener who takes pride in delivering high‑quality green spaces? As a Senior Gardener at Peabody, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the award‑winning landscaped areas at the Park Side estate in Lewisham (SE10), a site that has undergone significant regeneration and investment. You’ll use your expertise to care for a wide range of landscape features while supporting apprentices and representing Peabody positively to residents and visitors.
This is a hands‑on role where your horticultural knowledge, professionalism and customer‑focused approach will be highly valued. You’ll work outdoors as part of the Environmental Services team, helping to ensure the estate remains attractive, safe and welcoming all year round.
What you’ll do
- Carry out high‑quality horticultural maintenance including grass cutting, planting, weeding and formative pruning
- Maintain and operate irrigation systems to support healthy landscapes
- Check and maintain play areas, ensuring they are safe and well presented
- Ensure paths and key access routes are treated during icy conditions
- Support and mentor apprentices, promoting good horticultural practice
- Use Confirm Connect to record works and collect service data
- Report defects and estate issues accurately using appropriate systems
- Build positive working relationships with colleagues and residents
- Take a proactive role in resolving complaints and service issues
- Follow all Health & Safety, equality and customer care policies at all times
What you’ll need
- Proven experience delivering horticultural work in a high‑quality landscape environment
- Strong technical knowledge of horticultural practices
- Experience using a wide range of gardening tools and equipment
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Confidence using your initiative and helping set tasks for others
- Clear and polite communication skills
Qualifications required
- Level 2 Horticulture qualification (or equivalent)
- PA1 and PA6 pesticide qualifications, or relevant modular training

This is a full‑time, outdoor role based on a 35‑hour working week with a 7.30am start. You must be comfortable working in all weather conditions and committed to maintaining high‑quality landscaped environments while following all Health & Safety requirements.
